Day 16: July 15, 2019 - To the Heart of the Swiss Alps
Today was our longest day of bus riding. It was a rainy day, so I napped on and off on the coach while we sat in construction in Northern Italy. Colleen shared a lot of interesting information about Switzerland that was new to me and when we arrived in the Lauterbrunnen Valley I discovered my room had a lovely open balcony with a view of waterfalls and the Swiss Alps!! I also greatly enjoyed the cooler temperatures that greeted us after spending a week in very warm Italy.
Day 17: July 16th, 2019 - The Schilthorn and Hiking in the Alps!
Today was definitely one of my absolute favorite days of the entire trip. I joined the majority of the group to ride a gondola lift up to the Schilthorn at 9,800 feet. I took part in the "scary" thrill walk adventures on the way back down so I was able to explored places only mountaineers can usually go. Then I joined Collen and a few brave souls in the group for an unbelievably gorgeous 90 minute hike back to our hotel.

The Thrill Walk! Tight Rope balancing, glass tiles, and open grates while surrounded by the splendor of the Alps!
Once the rush of the thrill walk subsided we took a beautiful hike through the Swiss countryside.
